I’m often asked for hints and tips when people are moving. The main one I can give is get organised! Think about what items you are putting in which boxes – then label those boxes. It certainly helps us at the other end as we’re able to put them in to the rooms you’ve marked on the box.
It’s a good idea to have one box where you put all the items you need at hand, whether that’s paperwork, keys or simple things like the kettle. Fill all the boxes to the top, even if this means mixing items or using bedding to pad out boxes. That way the boxes will stack better and won’t collapse in on themselves. You’ll also make better use of the space in the van and especially if you’re going in to storage. You don’t want to be paying for storing fresh air!
Make sure you pack everything up and dismantle any wardrobes that you need taking apart. If you’re paying by the hour you want value for money, get us doing the hard things like the lifting and the carrying up and downstairs.
